ITD, District 4 – US 93

The survey area consists of approximtely 22.47 miles of US 93, split into North and South sections. The South section runs from milepost 50.305 at the north end of the famous Perrine Bridge to MP 52.550 at the Maintenance Cross-Over on the south side of I-84. The North section runs from MP 53.394 at the Jct of US-93/I-84 WB off-ramp to MP 73.619 at the Jct of US-93/US-26 in the city of Shoshone. The US 93 corridor was surveyed via Mobile LiDAR with the Optech Lynx Mobile LiDAR system in September/October of 2013. The mobile LiDAR data was collected at the request of ITD District 4 for future use in planning and design level projects related to the US 93 Highway corridors. Primary Survey Control was established at 5 mile intervals throughout the project corridor by WHPacific survey crews via Static GPS sessions that were then submitted for processing through the NGS OPUS website. Secondary survey control was then established from the Primary control points at 500′ intervals along each edge of pavment using PK Nails with 18″ white crosses painted at each location that then visually appear in the LiDAR scan data which is used to control the final Mobile LiDAR solutions.
The mobile LiDAR data was supplemented with conventional survey data completed in area’s not visible with the Mobile LiDAR system and aerial photogrammetry data which was collected to extend limits of the survey out an additional 1200′ each side of the mobile LiDAR’s effective reach limit.
